Deckrete MF Self Smoothing PU Application Guide Line

Deckrete MF PU Screed – Application Method Statement

1. Introduction

Deckrete MF PU Screed is a heavy-duty polyurethane cementitious flooring system designed for high-impact, thermal shock, and chemical exposure environments such as food factories, commercial kitchens, warehouses, and processing plants.

This method statement outlines the correct installation procedure to ensure optimal performance and durability.

2. Scope of Work

  • Surface preparation of concrete substrate
  • Application of Deckrete MF PU Screed system
  • Finishing and curing
  • Final inspection and handover

Recommended thickness:

  • 4mm (medium duty)
  • 6–9mm (heavy duty / thermal shock areas)

3. Materials & Equipment

Materials

  • Deckrete MF PU Screed (Resin + Hardener + Filler)
  • Primer (if required)
  • Joint sealant (PU type)

Equipment

  • Concrete grinder / shot blaster
  • Industrial vacuum
  • Mixing drill (low speed 300–400 rpm)
  • Forced action mixer (recommended)
  • Steel trowel
  • Spiked roller (if required)
  • Measuring tools

4. Surface Preparation

Proper preparation is critical for bonding.

Requirements:

  • Concrete strength: Minimum 25 MPa
  • Substrate must be sound and free from laitance
  • Oil, grease, and contaminants must be removed
  • Moisture content: Below 5% (or as per product spec)

Procedure:

  1. Grind or shot blast to achieve open textured surface (CSP 3–5).
  2. Remove all dust using industrial vacuum.
  3. Repair cracks or voids using suitable repair mortar.
  4. Cut termination grooves at edges and around columns (10mm x 10mm typical).

5. Mixing Procedure

Deckrete MF PU Screed is supplied in pre-measured packs.

Steps:

  1. Pour resin and hardener into mixer.
  2. Mix for 30 seconds.
  3. Gradually add filler component while mixing.
  4. Continue mixing for 2–3 minutes until homogeneous.

⚠ Do not hand mix.
⚠ Do not add water or solvent.
⚠ Observe pot life (20–30 minutes depending on temperature).

6. Application Procedure

Step 1 – Priming (If Required)

  • Apply primer to substrate.
  • Allow tacky state before screed application.

Step 2 – Placement

  • Pour mixed PU screed onto prepared floor.
  • Spread using screed box or steel trowel to required thickness.
  • Compact and level evenly.

Step 3 – Finishing

  • Smooth surface using steel trowel.
  • Ensure consistent texture and thickness.
  • Install coving (if required) while material is workable.

Step 4 – Joint Treatment

  • After curing, cut movement joints.
  • Fill with PU sealant.

7. Curing & Protection

  • Initial set: 6–8 hours
  • Light foot traffic: 12–16 hours
  • Full traffic: 24–48 hours
  • Full chemical resistance: 5–7 days

Protect area from:

  • Water exposure during curing
  • Direct sunlight
  • Contamination

Ideal application temperature:

  • Substrate: 10°C – 30°C
  • Avoid condensation (surface temp must be 3°C above dew point)

8. Quality Control

  • Check thickness using depth gauge
  • Ensure uniform finish
  • Verify no debonding or pinholes
  • Adhesion test if required

9. Safety Precautions

  • Wear gloves, goggles, and mask
  • Ensure proper ventilation
  • Follow MSDS guidelines
  • Dispose of waste responsibly
